record numbers for the
2008 edition of LAMIERA

24.500 visitors, 579 companies represented, and more than 28.000 square metres used
for the exhibition dedicated to metal forming technology

Record numbers for the 14th edition of LAMIERA, the trade show dedicated to metal forming technology which was held in Bologna from 14th to 17th May.

During the 4 days of the exhibition LAMIERA recorded around 24,500 visitors, 6.5% more than the previous edition, confirming the growing interest in this event promoted by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the association of Italian manufacturers of machine tools, robots and automation.

Operators from all over the world were enticed by the exhaustive offerings exhibited by 579 companies in an exhibition area of more than 28,000 square metres, 10% more than the exhibition area prepared for the previous edition.

The number of foreign visitors also increased, totalling approximately 1,700 compared to the thousand present in Bologna 2 years ago. The delegations from Albania, Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, China, Germany, Great Britain, India, Morocco, Poland, the CzechRepublic, Rumania, Russia and Spain were particularly notable.

For the first time, LAMIERA proposed RTDI-IN-FORMING, the new version of Lambda dedicated to presenting the results of activity related to metal forming processing carried out by the most qualified research institutes in Europe and in the field of European Union projects. RTDI-IN-FORMING, set up in hall 25, has recorded approximately a thousand meetings between research institutes and companies of the sector which are interested in initiating collaboration on applied research projects.

ASAP-SERVICE MANAGEMENT FORUM, CENTRO RICERCHE FIAT, FRAUNHOFER IWU, ICIMSI-SUPSI, INF-OS, MUSP, MANUFUTURE, NEXT, POLITECNICO DI MILANO, PROGETTO EUROPEO KOBAS, PROLIMA, SINTESI, UNIVERSITÀ DEGLI STUDI DI BOLOGNA, UNIVERSITÀ DEGLISTUDI DI MILANO, UNIVERSITÀ DEGLI STUDI DI PADOVA, UNIVERSITÀ DI FIRENZE, and UNIVERSITÀ DI GENOVA have been the leaders of the project, which has been promoted by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE.

Approximately 260 operators in the sector have taken part in the busy meeting programme which has accompanied LAMIERA for its entire duration.

The 780 two-sided meetings, organised by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE in collaboration with ICE, the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, have involved approximately 50 Italian entrepreneurs and more than 30 foreign users from the main countries in which increased consumption and considerable increases in the demand for machine tools in the field of metal forming are being recorded.

The 360 meetings organised by the association between Italian companies and the independent delegation from Brazil, which consists of around 30 operators, can be added to this total.

Constantly updated information can be found on the website www.lamiera.net, through which around 17,000 users, a thousand of which are foreign, have been able to register, thus obtaining the permanent free ticket for entrance to the exhibition.
